A little further up the path the steps change, the incline eases, the end - of the hill - is nigh.

Bell 1 2 3 4 : 8 June 2015
We were visiting an old friend last night and I spotted this high on the kitchen wall. It had obviously been some kind of bell system for the use of the maid of work (long, long gone before my friend moved into the house). How times change : these days the Good Lady Wife just sends me a text when she wants a cup of tea making.

Sir Leonard Hutton Gates, Headingley Cricket Ground, Leeds : 3 June 2015
The gates are wrought iron with holes cut out - a bit like an iron version of a paper silhouette. The burst of colour on the hat band of the upper figure was produced by a JCB or a tractor or something in the drive behind the gate. And before you ask, I was at Headingley taking photographs and not watching the cricket.

BRIDGE END UNITED REFORMED CHURCH, BRIGHOUSE : 2 JUNE 2015
Built in 1856 in the Italian style that was popular with the non-conformist community at the time, I must have driven by the former Bridge End Church a hundred times. Today I walked passed it and saw it for the first time.

St Lukes Hospital, Little Horton, Bradford : May 2015
Despite the blossoming trees and the fresh green grass, the building is infused in institutionalism and cries out for monochrome. It used to be Bradford Union Workhouse and then it became a hospital. I was born there sixty-odd years ago - when it was a hospital, not a workhouse!
