Sunny Periods and Heavy Showers

The picture shows the canal near Mirfield and the reflections show the weather pattern on Friday. By Saturday even the occasional sightings of the sun where lost behind thick cloud.

Jane and Edwin and the Calder and Hebble Canal

Jane and Edwin came to stay over the weekend and on Friday - during a brief interlude from the driving rain - we went for a walk along the Calder and Hebble Navigation.

Overlooking Huddersfield

Whenever I don't know quite where to head to as I walk Amy, I head for this hill overlooking North Huddersfield where the patterns change with the moving sun and the clouds.

Modern Mosaic

I don't know why I wanted to turn this advertising banner outside a local garage into a mosaic. There was just this strange thought : what would the old Roman Forum look like if they had taken in adverts from local tradesmen?

All Items Of Value Have Been Removed

This sign is stuck on the boards which are nailed up to the closed windows of what once was my nearest pub. A vast social revolution is taking place around us as the number of local pubs is being decimated. As items of value themselves, they are being remorselessly removed.

Kirklees Youth Games

Over the last week or so, hundreds of these banners have appeared on lamp-posts on all roads leading to Huddersfield. The cost of producing the banners and erecting them must have been frightening. And yet, they do not tell you what the Kirklees Youth Games are, when they are, nor where they are. So what is the point?

Orange Flowers Against A Green Background

The orange flowers (whatever they are) poking through the green privet hedge. Spotted somewhere on my daily walk.
