Floodlit Budapest

At the month end, I am still back in Budapest with this picture of the floodlit old town taken during my trip back in 2005.

Port Meadow Sunset

This is not fro camera of Alan Burnett but from that of my good friend Jane Gordon-Cumming. A sunset to be proud of Jane.

Sat here at my desk watching February fade into March I get the desire to go travelling again. It seems so long ago since I was on the move. This was taken in Budapest on my last real trip : and that was almost three years ago.

University Accommodation

Getting down to practicalities after so many months waiting means that we now have to start thinking about university accommodation for Alexander. By chance, I picked up an old album of pictures dating back to the early 1970s. This is my room at Keele - complete with obligatory Marx and Ho Chi Minh posters - and that, of course, is Isobel.

We were down in Oxford on Friday evening when the news appeared on the UCAS website that Xan had received an offer from Sheffield Medical School. Do we look happy? Of course we were.

The Cost Of Petrol

My brother took this photo (yes, that's me in the picture). He turned up at the petrol station where I worked and asked me to fill up his old petrol-fuelled cigarette lighter. I remember, he complained about the cost. Today, of course, it would cost a small fortune.

Night Sky, Sheffield

This was taken in Sheffield about 25 years ago. Most of the blocks of flats seen in the background have now gone.

Robin Hood and Alan A'Dale

A last look at Center Parc and a response to those who have been complaining about the lack of pictures showing me involved in physical activities.

Another Cold Foggy Morning

Another of those cold foggy morning in the woods shots.

World of White Webs

The strange frosts a feather-like snow has left the spiders' webs wonderfully visible.

40 Green Bottles

At the end of the Center Parc weekend there were 40 green bottles lined up, evidence of a good weekend for some teenagers.

Heading back in time again. This is Alexander about 14 years ago. One of my favourite photographs of him.

Back Street Fog

The fog of yesterday reminded me that foggy mornings are quite rare these days. This was taken back in the sixties when foggy mornings - afternoons and evenings - were very common. This was in Halifax somewhere. No doubt it is long gone.

It's Back

Last November, I decided to move the Daily Photo Blog to my main News From Nowhere Blog. But enough people seem to keep coming back to this site - and asking me who I haven't updated it - so here it is, back from the dead. The Daily Photo Blog is alive, and well and once again living in cyberspace.
