1350 : The Poetry Of Animal Disposal Solutions

The ornate gates of an animal by-products plant in Bradford. According to their website they provide disposal solutions for "bone, fat, offal and gut; hides, skins, hooves and horns; chicken feathers; and pig bristles and toenails". How poetic.

I don't understand the showing of sculptures with animals decorating a place that it trying to destroy all the evidence of the kill. We have a packing plant next town over and those who work there say that they don't smell anything. I smell something and you can't fool me. When the wind is in the west I can smell it in my backyard too. That first statement makes me sound like a vegetarian but I am not.

It looks a lot better than the old boneyard in Halifax, Mitchell and Broadbent's, which was very close to where many of Alan's panoramic shots of sixties Halifax were taken. I bet he remembers the smell - everybody in Halifax used to get it some days.

You have to have places like this. There aren't enough buzzards to go round.
