1058 Wainhouse Tower

I took this photograph of Wainhouse Tower, Halifax the other evening when visiting a friend who lives under the shadow of this fine nineteenth century folly.

Looks like somebody visited the Middle East and decided to build a reminder of his travels when he got home. Until I read the caption I would have sworn that that was the minaret of a mosque.

Being from way over here I don't know the story about Wainhouse Tower, but since you've used the word folly with it's description, now I'll have to check it out! It's sound much to my liking!
