1046 : Colour Decorators

Some of the negatives in the odds and ends box were colour negatives, dating from the time when I used to develop my own colour transparencies. This shot will again date back to the 1960s and I am reasonably sure it was taken in Horton Street, Halifax. What kind of decorators' shop would have a window display that seemed to consist of nothing but sacks of potatoes?

What a lovely old shot, I guess they had left decorating behind. Very 'Ronnie Barker' and his shop in 'Open all hours'.

Super picture, really wonderful! I am wondering if it had changed from a decorators into a wholesale greengrocers perhaps,. But whatever it was, it catches that feeling that I used to get in back streets of old cities when finding corners that didn't seem to have changed for fifty years at all.

By the way I have figured out how to navigate between the days on your new style blog, it was obvious of course. (Honestly, sometimes I think I deserve to be pushed back in time - see you in 1960!)
