1035 : Before Supermarkets Ruled The World

Another of those shots looking down over Halifax from the top of Godley Cuttings. I must have taken dozens of these over the years, I keep being attracted back to such a scene of industrial force set against the hills and moors of West Yorkshire. I suspect that this must have been taken in the mid-1970s : the new flyover is in place but the land under North Bridge has still to be cleared in preparation for a concrete wave of sports centres and supermarkets.

Cool! That complex in the lower right corner with the road curving around it almost looks like one of the German castles overlooking the Rhine from the bluffs above the river. Very evocative!
