Scarborough Saunter 2 : This Way And That Way

What is it about the British? It might be early March, the temperature might be hovering around freezing point, but as long as it isn't pouring with rain people make for the nearest stretch of sand and wander. This way and that way, backwards and forwards, walking or running, riding on donkeys.

Sounds like the ideal occupation, no crowds, fresh air, exhilerating.

Hey, I love the beach much better in Winter, too. There are less people to dodge and there are lots of interesting things that wash up on the beach in the Winter storms. Somehow Winter makes a beach more truly "scenic".

I think our local bears do the same thing because they are hungry. We have a saying about winter bringing on things like "Cabin Fever" that brings out the worst in families.

Oh my goodness! I remember riding a donkey on the beach when I was just a little girl.
This is a great picture and thanks for the memory!

I have never seen or heard of it before but of course the beach is a long ways from nowhere Iowa. I would love to ride a horse on the beach like one sees in commercials.
