Lovely Place. What More Can You Say?

Steam Engineering

Back after my short break and returning with another picture of steam engineering. This is the LMS Princess Class locomotive, Princess Elizabeth, seen at Huddersfield Railway Station yesterday. I was on my way to York in a very new and dull diesel electric train. How I wish I had been joining this beauty instead. Built in November 1933, the Princess Elizabeth used to pull the Royal Scot train between London and Glasgow. These days it is used for special excursions : the one yesterday was on the magnificent Settle to Carlisle line.

Steam Engineer

Taken earlier today at the Halifax Show. An ancient steam engine was lovingly cared for by a somewhat eccentric steam engineer.

The Taker Took

Like most photographers, I am not too keen on having my photograph taken. Last Thursday was therefore a particularly trying day as I was followed around by a photographer from the Yorkshire Post who were doing a feature on the West Yorkshire in Ten Squares series which is on my News From Nowhere Blog. I did manage to get this shot of the photographer photographing me photographing him photographing me .... etc.
