A Magnificent Collection Of Chimney Pots

I have just scanned this from some old negatives of mine. I must have taken the photograph some 40 years ago. As far as I can tell it shows the demolition of the back streets at the bottom end of Halifax - probably somewhere around Wade Street. I think that is Halifax Town Hall you can see in the medium distance, behind what is a magnificent collection of chimney pots.

You are right! That is a magnificent collection! I expect that area looks quite different now.

How great to have photos in your collection showing things that have now disappeared. I suppose there was good reason to pull the terraces down but I feel a tinge of regret. You must archive the photos on Historypin.

The single car stands out on the dusty road. Loved this picture, Alan. It is so interesting to see what was before modernisation.

What a shot! The architecture and the character of the area is so great to see. Lots of coal being burned I assume.
