090808 Walking Stick Man

I took this shot earlier today during a visit to the Halifax Agriculture Show. There was something about this man who was selling walking sticks : a seriousness which suggests he was not a man to barter with.

Yes, I don't think I will dicker on the price for those. Sometimes what seems funny is that you speak to someone like that and they melt into another personality. He does look serious and it is a great portrait.

He looks bored to me...I bet if you would have chatted him up a bit, he would have softened. ha
But he sure looks like he is focusing on something out there, doesn't he?

Walking sticks that we call canes most of the time. My daughter, who then lived in Colorado, and hiked, sent me a "walking stick" that is a limb from a tree with a rubber end on it so it doesn't slip on flooring and the other end has a hole through the middle with a leather thong through it to loop over your wrist. It is taller than me.

I also liked this portrait, Alan. Very thoughtful.
