Brownhill Reservoir

Mark and I took to the hills today. Worth it just to see the colours of Spring. Glorious day.

Silvestre

Silvestre, the rabbit. For no other reason than he is there. As he has been for the last nine years. Which is equivalent to something like 120 human years. And still he survives on a diet of lettuce and the Sunday Times.

Erotic Tree

Who says trees cannot be erotic?

Northumberland Sheep Part II

There is something about the colours in this photograph: so warm.

Northumberland Sheep Part 1

I have this thing about sheep at the moment. They are very photogenic and tend to pose for the camera.

Gates Of Distinction

Away for the weekend staying with a friend who is an orthopaedic surgeon. She has the most wonderful garden gates, designed to represent hip replacements.

Still There

It's still there. Just.

Yes That Is Really Snow

I suppose the thing about climate change is that at one time we would not have rushed for our cameras just because it was snowing in March. But now ...

Hail Amy

Picture taken in the middle of the hailstorm which forced Amy and I to make a quick dash for home today.

Velvet

No doubt these cottages - just a couple of hundred yards from where the dreadful Suede will be - would have been called something like velvet if they had been built today.

Just When You Think ...

Just when you think that nobody can come up with a dafter name for a new housing development, along comes Suede!

Amy In Action

Off the lead today, she moves like the wind.

Down The Valley

A view down the valley this morning. The housing stock on view must span about 250 years, which is fairly typical of Yorkshire.

English Idyll

There is something rather English and idyllic about this footpath and stile I photographed on my walk today. I don't think you would find such a scene anywhere else in the world.

Trunk Call

Why? It's just a nice texture.

Day Trip To Calais

My parents and "Uncle Charlie" on a day trip to Calais in the 1930s. Until the 1960s this was the only time they had ever left the country. My father looks unusually confident in this foreign setting which is, no doubt, a false impression. He would have been worried about getting back to the Ferry Terminal on time and whether my mother was still clutching tight their passports and tickets.

Gladys and Albert

After the excursion to Blackpool, the weekend was spent sorting through the piles of papers, photographs, books and computer disks in my room. Looking for order, I found my mother and father.

Wanted : Dead or Alive

I took this photograph as evidence. The gull had just stolen some of my chips. There is a reward.

Hand Some

This glorious hand was displayed outside one of the many fortune-telling booths. Is there any living person who has ever been in one of these places?

Winter Gardens

The first of a series of three images taken during my day out at Blackpool on Thursday. The Winter Gardens is by far the finest building in the town.

... and After

And this is the "after" photo. Crufts starts later this week. Is it too late to get an entry form?

Before

After almost five months Amy was due for cutting today. This is a "before" picture.

That Moment Of Surprise

That moment of surprise - my good friend Bader walks into his house to discover a surprise birthday party. Happy birthday mate.

Change and Contrast

Change and contrast is such a wonderful central theme of the British climate. Yesterday felt like the middle of winter - today the start of Spring.

Warmer Days

It is cold and wet outside so I am dipping into the archives again to find something to keep my spirits up.

Thackray Museum

A trip to visit a friend in hospital today took us to the car park at the Thackray Museum in Leeds (where we also had lunch). Beautiful building.
